What To Use Instead Of Armor All (Alternatives)

HELP DETAILDIY & SHARE

One of the best alternatives to Armor All is 303 Aerospace Protectant. Armor All is a well-known protectant that helps prevent sun damage to many interior and exterior parts of your car.

Vinyl, leather, rubber, and other common materials used in the interior and exterior need protection from UV rays. That is what 303 Aerospace Protectant does very well.

What To Use Instead Of Armor All

Aerospace 303 Protectant is my preferred Armor All alternative. It has a very light matte finish and excellent UV blocking properties. It also doesn’t attract lint and dust.

There are Armor All hacks that you can use if you don’t happen to have a good protectant on hand. Olive oil, Vaseline, and Pledge furniture polish are common alternatives you might have around the house.

What is as good as Armor All?

One of the best alternatives to Armor All is 303 Aerospace Protectant. The water-based protectant does not leave a residue that feels greasy. And it will not cause sun glare because it produces a matte finish on the dash. Its ability to protect various surfaces without causing damage or potentially dangerous sun glare makes it just as good as Armor All.

Does 303 Protectant work?

The specially formulated 303 Protectant works as well as any product on the market. Just a few squirts from its spray bottle onto a clean and dust-free surface of the dash enables the material to bond and look better.

It works great on any surface that needs armor protection from the sun’s harmful rays. That includes leather, vinyl, and plastic that often are placed inside of car interiors.

Is 303 Aerospace Protectant shiny?

You will not have to worry about sun glare because 303 Protectant does not leave a shiny surface. You spray it on the dash and other surfaces and wipe it down with a clean cloth. It leaves a matte surface that breaks up the sun’s UV rays and helps to prevent annoying glare.

How can I make my car interior plastic shine?

You can make your car interior’s plastic shine with a product like Meguiar’s Natural Shine. It contains Scotchgard to defend against cracking, aging, and fading color. It also has UV inhibitors that help stop the sun’s UV rays from damaging your car’s interior.

What is the best way to clean the dash of a car?

The best way to clean the dash of a car is to vacuum and dust out of the interior. Follow up with a good cleaning with warm water, some dish detergent mixed in, and a few tablespoons of vinegar for some extra cleaning punch.

Once the dashboard is cleaned, you can use 303 Aerospace Protectant or another fantastic product to condition and protect the dash. You can spray it on with the adjustable nozzle so that you do not waste any. The final result will help to armor the interior against damaging UV rays.

What do car detailers use to clean a dashboard?

Car detailers use quality professional dash cleaners, like SONAX Dashboard Cleaner. It uses a unique cleaning formula that does not contain solvents or silicone that might damage leather, plastic, rubber, or other materials inside your car.

How do I make my dashboard look new?

You can make your dash look new with a thorough cleaning to remove dirt. Once you have the surface of the dashboard cleaned, you can use Meguiar’s Natural Shine Protectant to restore color and protect against UV damage. Meguiar’s Natural Shine comes in convenient wipes that make it very easy to use and apply evenly.

Can I use Clorox wipes in my car?

Despite Clorox being known as a bleach company, their wipes don’t contain any bleach. Clorox wipes are great for sanitizing surfaces inside your vehicle. They also are great at cleaning up messes and stubborn bits stuck to your console or dash.

Clorox wipes are great for use on all non-porous surfaces. This covers almost all surfaces inside your car or truck aside from upholstery or carpet.

While Clorox wipes are great for cleaning, don’t forget that they don’t leave behind any protection. To ensure your dash and other surfaces don’t get damaged from sun damage, be sure and follow up use of your Clorox wipes with a quality protectant.

DIY Armor All Hacks

For the record, I don’t really recommend these alternatives over a proper UV protectant. These options generally don’t have UV blocking abilities and aren’t intended to be used in this way.

Armor All ingredients

Armor All ingredients include water-based silicone emulsions and UV inhibitors that help to protect the interior against fading, cracking, and dry rot caused by UV rays. Various active ingredients help Amor All bond better with leather, vinyl, and other surface materials.

How do you make homemade Armor All?

A few simple ingredients added to a spray bottle that holds at least 16 ounces could create a very effective homemade Armor All. You need 1 cup of warm water and 1 cup of mineral oil as the main ingredients.

A tablespoon of distilled white vinegar gives it some cleaning power against gunk. The vinegar also helps to leave a very sanitary smell in your vehicle.

Five drops of Melaleuca and five drops of Eucalyptus essential oils help to condition leather. You mix it all in a spray bottle and can use it right away.

Homemade Armor All with coconut oil

You could use the same homemade Armor All formula provided above but replace the mineral oil with 1 cup of coconut oil. The coconut oil is especially useful on leather and vinyl and does a great job of softening them with only organic ingredients. The homemade formula also is an excellent cleaner for rubber and other materials.

Baby oil vs. Armor All

Baby oil is a convenient and effective way to condition your dash and other interior parts instead of Armor All. Baby oil is especially effective on leather surfaces and works well on vinyl. Baby oil could make the dash shiny if you wipe it on there, too.

Can I use coconut oil on my car dashboard?

You can use coconut oil to clean your dashboard and other interior parts. Coconut oil works great on leather, vinyl, plastic, and rubber and helps condition them and clean them.

You could use a protectant afterward or leave the dashboard alone after the coconut cleaning and conditioning. If you need to remove some old registration or park pass stickers from the inside of the windows, coconut oil does that well.

Is olive oil good for a car dashboard?

Because it tends to attract dust, the dashboard is where olive oil could do a great job of cleaning and conditioning. Olive oil can clean rubber pieces and help to condition them while preventing cracking and dry rot. It also produces a delightful smell while acting as a conditioning armor for softer interior materials.

Is Vaseline good for dashboards?

Vaseline is an excellent conditioner and lubricant that works well on a clean dashboard. It would be best to clean off the dirt to make sure the Vaseline has a good, clean surface with which to work. Then you can apply it with your fingers if you like and massage it in with a clean cloth.

Can I use Pledge on my car dashboard?

Pledge is a very effective treatment for any car interior and its dashboard. Lemon Pledge is a favorite among used car dealerships for its ability to condition leather, plastic, and wood trim alike.

The Pledge spray can holds a lot. It is affordable and available at many retailers. It also makes a used car smell very pleasant and clean for a prospective customer.

Can I use Windex on my dashboard?

You can spray Windex on your dashboard to clean it and remove stubborn residue. Dead bugs, tar, and general gunk clean up nicely when you spray some Windex on and let it soak in for a couple of minutes. You can wipe it off with a paper towel and throw it away when you are done cleaning.

Can you use WD40 on a car dashboard?

If you want a sleek and shiny dash, you could treat it with WD40 and its penetrating silicone lubricant. It will leave a residue on the glass that you would need to clean off.

WD40 also can soften any adhesives that might be holding items in place. That could be convenient for removing stickers or other things that you do not want on your car.

Can you use car wax on a dashboard?

You could use car wax on a dashboard after it is cleaned to help restore the color. The wax could produce a shine that might irritate your eyes while driving. But it could protect the dash much like it could protect exterior rubber and trim.

Is Armor All necessary?

Because there are good alternatives, Armor All is not necessary. If you ignore the potential damage caused by UV rays and the accumulation of dust and dirt, you are taking a risk that you could avoid with a good protectant.

Products like 303 Aerospace Protectant, SONAX Dashboard Cleaner, and Meguiars Natural Shine all help. If you ignore the potential damage caused by UV rays and the accumulation of dust and dirt, you are taking a risk that you could avoid with a good protectant.
